I have a MILLION recipes in my pantry. I mean it's a slight bit ridiculous when my recipe books and magazines pile up so high that I can't get to my food. I love recipes. I wish I had the time to cook all day and try new things but I don't. So I try the new recipes as often as I can. My amazing Grandma got me a subscription to the Taste Of Home magazine. I get a wonderful magazine every couple of months & really enjoy it. My husband HATES it because they pile up in the pantry and then I forget about them and that's that. So at the wood store the other day I found this cute mail holder that I thought I could turn into a magazine holder for my recipes. It turned out great, only problem is there isn't enough room for ALL of my magazines....Plan B for the extra magazines....I don't know my plan B yet but when I figure it out I'll let you know!
So I started out with the "mail holder." Unpainted & $6.95. I sanded the edges & painted them red so that I could go for the rustic look when I was finished.
I then painted the wood black & sprayed the whole thing with a clear sealant to protect the paint and make it shiny.
I took a piece of sandpaper and sanded the edges where I had painted red underneath {although I didn't get a picture of this it looked cool}
It looked rustic with the red paint showing through the black paint. I put my vinyl letters on the outside and there you have it. My new magazine recipe holder. I love it!
There's a wood store in Midvale that has amazing crafts. I'm addicted and pretty much wish I could quit my job and become a photographer/crafty chic! Happy Monday.
