Happy 90th Birthday Grandma.....

My Grandma turned 90 years old on Sunday! Wow....what a long journey through life. I can't even imagine. My Grandma is wonderful. She's beautiful inside & out. Her day started out with a small makeover from ME. I went to her house in the morning and put make-up on her and my Mom fixed her hair. She was one hot Grandma. I asked her if she wanted purple eye shadow to match her purple suit outfit. Her reply was, "Nahhh I don't wear that crap." I said, "Grandma it's your 90th birthday. Live a little." So she says, "Okay well if you want to put that stuff on my eyes then go ahead." When I was finished with her make-up I said, "Grandma, it's a good thing you can't walk because if you walked outside all the old men would flock around you and Grandpa would be jealous." She said, "Yes it's a good thing then huh?"

After the makeover I listened to stories about her younger days. I loved hearing those stories. I could have listened for hours. It's not very often I get to hear my Grandma speak of her childhood. She was laughing so hard at her own words. I wish I would have had my video camera. My extended family began to arrive to give my Grandma her birthday wishes and you could see that she was so happy and content. She was laughing and smiling from ear to ear. It's not often we get to see my Grandma like that. She's a happy person but she isn't able to walk anymore and she hates that more than anything. So this was a great day....for me, for everyone who came to visit her & hopefully for my Grandma.

90 years of life is an accomplishment in my eyes. I love being close with my grandparents. I love hearing their stories. I love visiting them every Friday. I hate that with time we all grow old. I hope my Grandma lives to be 101 just so I can spend that much more time with her.....I hope she had a wonderful birthday party. She deserves it!

I can't forget to mention this amazing man. My Grandpa. He & I have a bond. We go out for Starbucks together (or as Grandpa calls it.....Starbuc). He says we hang out or whatever the teenagers say now days. :) This man takes care of my Grandma 24/7. Talk about for better or worse, in sickness & in health. He is the image of unconditional love that's for sure. Like I said above, my Grandma can't walk and hasn't been able to for some time now. Her mind is sharp but her legs just don't work anymore. My grandpa cooks her meals, takes her to her doctor appointments, gets her up and helps her get dressed everyday etc....I don't ever hear him complain. Not even when my grandma gets a little frustrated with him. I hope I have this kind of love when I'm 90 years old.
